Background
The USAID‐funded MTaPS program is providing technical assistance to the Ministry of Health (MOH) in support of objective 3 of the National Action Plan (NAP) to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR): reducing the incidence of infection through effective infection prevention and control. In this program, MTaPS has also provided technical support to strengthen the Government of Jordan’s COVID‐19 response efforts in IPC.
The IPC program will focus on improving governance and organizational capacity of the national Advisory Committee for Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC) to oversee the implementation of IPC interventions according to the NAP‐AMR. MTaPS will continue to build the capacity of IPC personnel. Infection control will have a key role in ensuring that IPC measures are appropriately applied to further reduce the spread of infections and the need for antimicrobial use.
His Excellency the Minister of Health requested from the ACIPC the formation of a sub‐ committee to investigate and address multi‐drug resistant organisms (MDROs) outbreaks. With support from MTaPS Jordan and national and international stakeholders, the committee developed a policy for MDROs to be implemented in the public and private sectors.
The purpose of this scope of work is to collaborate and work closely with the MTaPS Jordan team in building stakeholder capacity for implementation of the approved MDRO policy. The consultant will develop training materials according to the MDRO policy and conduct training to stakeholders from the public (MOH, Royal Medical Services) and private health sectors in accordance with the MOH IPC Department.
This work will require a senior clinical practitioner, with expertise in IPC within hospital settings. This expert will have expertise in capacity building of hospital/healthcare practitioners including hands‐on training
Supervision and reporting responsibility: The consultant will be supervised by, and report to “Senior Technical Advisor” at MTaPS Jordan. The consultant will liaise with the country director, other members of the country team, relevant MTaPS headquarters and regional technical staff, and work in collaboration with the MOH IPC Department and other stakeholders as needed.
