Department Purpose
Promote and support the host communities and Syrian refugees’ engagement in host community project to promote recycling of solid wastes and other related WASH interventions. The Senior Officer will build capacity of men, women, youth and children to promote solid waste recycling, ensure vulnerable host community members and refugees have opportunity to participate actively and provide feedback on project activities. The CE Senior officer will be training and coaching Community Engagement Assistants and partner staff to deliver a high-quality program that is responsive to the needs of the community in targeted towns.

Job Purpose
The Senior Community Engagement Officer will be a position of leadership in developing and facilitating relationships between OXFAM and community leaders and stakeholders at both the area wide and neighborhood level in Jordan. The Senior Community Engagement Officer is responsible for ensuring that programming pursued by OXFAM is informed by and driven by the community.
To facilitate effectiveness and efficiency in this role, Senior Community Engagement Officer position will be physically embedded in the community through partnership with an appropriate community-based organization.
To develop, manage and implement OXFAM community engagement activities and services, including identifying, and nurturing opportunities for affecting positive change at the neighborhood level through efforts that are aligned with strategic plan, and working closely with other OXFAM staff and volunteers to ensure integration and coordination of efforts.
Support the vulnerable people (Syrian and Jordanian) in the targeted areas in AL- Mafraq. provide a link between the community and Oxfam’s WASH programs, ensuring refugees have opportunity to input, participate and provide feedback on implemented activities.
Build the capacity of Community Engagement Officers and Assistants to deliver a high-quality program that is responsive to the needs of the community at the district level.
