Mainstreaming inclusion principles within the Accreditation process
In Auust 2021, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded University Research Co., LLC (URC) a five-year flagship health activity in Jordan. The USAID Health Services Quality Accelerator (HSQA) Activity (the Activity) aims to sustain and advance improvements in equitable reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) services, specifically targeting disadvantaged segments of the population. The Activity supports innovative approaches to improve access to and quality of RMNCH services in the public and private sectors and to strengthen the Ministry of Health’s (MOH’s) capacity to act as a steward for improving the quality of RMNCH services.
Background information relevant to the assignment:
Accreditation standards and processes for health entities aim to ensure that the health services, including RMNCH services, are respectful and accessible for all, including marginalized groups such as persons with disabilities. Otherwise, these groups will not enjoy their right to RMNCH. This situation will affect the quality of services for marginalized infants, newborns, children, pregnant and mothers. So, it is essential for the service providers -at the level of leaders, decision-makers, administrative and health staff- to be aware and able to adopt technical guidance and instructions to adopt the inclusion of the following themes, including governance and leadership, processes and operations, environmental health and safety theme, patients and beneficiaries’ rights, improving the quality, information management, HR management.
Accordingly, the USAID HSQA activity seeks qualified candidates to incorporate inclusion principles and accessibility forms and criteria within the accreditation processes and standards through developing technical guidance and instructions and to build the capacity of health staff and decision makers for inclusive RMNCH services:
The estimated level of effort (LOE): 19 working days, February – August, 2023
