About the Role:
Plan, direct, or coordinate the transportation operations within an organization or
the activities of organizations that provide transportation services.
Responsibilities:
Transport
Manage the transportation of goods and supplies for a large organization using
existing procedures review and recommend improvements to procedures to
ensure on-time delivery of goods and supplies.
Inventory
Lead the design, development, and delivery of the organization’s inventory
strategy and program to secure supplies and to minimize cost.
Outgoing goods
Develop and implement a packaging plan for a range of business-critical
products and services in accordance with packaging regulations.
Incoming Goods
Lead and manage large complex warehouse(s) and stores, reviewing current
procedures and develop new procedures when required to ensure all goods and
supplies are stored and recorded appropriately.
Sourcing
Collect and analyze the key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas of
innovation, and alternative suppliers for business-critical risk area(s) with few
alternatives/high costs of changing, in consultation with relevant functions to
provide solid market information for decision making.
Operations Management
Manage a significant operational area for the organization.
Leadership and Direction
Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function’s
strategy and business plan within the business area or department explain the
relationship to the broader organization’s mission, vision and values motivate
people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local
business goals.
Functional Strategy Formation
Contribute to the formation of a key element of functional strategy through
specialist expertise and insights, to ensure that the strategy meets business
needs.
Performance Management
Manage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team set
appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project / account team
members and hold them accountable for achieving these take appropriate
corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team / personal
objectives.
Budgeting
Develop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues.
Stakeholder Engagement
Develop stakeholder engagement through identifying stakeholders, finding out
their needs/issues/concerns and reacting to these to support the communication
of business information and decisions.
Organizational Capability Building
Use the organization’s formal development framework to identify the team’s
individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing
professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to
build their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to
others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to
improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
Experience:
General Experience
Substantial general work experience together with comprehensive job related
experience in own area of expertise to fully competent level. (Over 6 years to 10
years)
Managerial Experience
Experience of planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined
objectives as specified by more senior managers (Over 3 years to 6 years)
