Advance Consulting is a business and investment advisory firm operating in Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. We drive impact through private sector development with a focus on SMEs in the Agrifood, Renewable Energy and Circular Economy sectors.
By 2050, the number of people who live on our planet will have doubled. We believe that SMEs in Agrifood have a key role in feeding this population, as they hold critical positions along the value chains as producers, input suppliers, off-takers, processors, and distributors. SMEs in the renewable energy sector are pivotal in assuring that 900 million people, who currently do not have electricity, will gain access to affordable energy by 2030. At the same time, we need to transition to a Circular Economy as we cannot sustainably continue extracting the earth’s limited resources. We are contributing to these goals by facilitating private sector development of the Agrifood and Renewable Energy sectors of Africa, Asia and Latin America in an environmental-friendly, socially responsible and commercially sustainable way.

Our office in Amman
In Jordan, we support the development of a sustainable and competitive agriculture sector through an increasing number of programs and partnerships. Amongst others, we aim to improve the income opportunities and longer-term resilience of horticulture smallholder farmers, cooperatives and SMEs in Jordan via tailor-made business development support. We also improve access to finance for SMEs and smallholder farmers by developing, piloting and scaling financial products in close collaboration with the Agricultural Credit Cooperative and mobile money platforms. In addition, we will develop viable business cases to improve product and service provision to smallholder farmers and SMEs.
About the position of Finance Coordinator in Jordan
To meet the increasing demand for our advisory services in the Middle East region, we are growing our team. As a financial coordinator you will be responsible for accurate and up to date (project) finances in the ERP system (Odoo) and reporting to our clients, including supporting documents. You will work closely together with the Operations Manager (who is responsible for all operations including finances at the Jordan office and aligning with the Advance Consulting office in the Netherlands) and the Office manager (who is doing day to day bookkeeping besides office management).
Tasks and responsibilities of the Finance Coordinator will include:
Handle all petty cash including advances, both for project and general finances, and make sure all costs are allocated on the right project/ledger.
Facilitate the finances of project operations including procurement and price offer collection.
Support in the management and tracking of all project budgets (internal control on a monthly base).
Ensure compliance with client contracts and guidelines.
Assist in preparing financial reports for projects; in cooperation with the project leads.
Verify completeness and accuracy of all project documentation needed, according to client requirements.
Assist on daily bookkeeping when needed and take over in absence of the Office manager.
Assist on daily operations when needed and take over in absence of the Operations manager.
Other tasks related to your expertise and based on your ambitions, and as requested by Management.
About you
We strive to deliver accurate, timely and transparent financial management, both for corporate and project finances. For this position, you will bring the following background:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finances, business administration or another relevant field.
Around 5 years’ experience in finance/accounting, including project finances.
Excellent analytical and computer skills, with strong experience in Excel and Word, and experience with one or more bookkeeping systems.
Well-developed and effective organizational skills, including the ability to work on different projects, and dealing with deadlines.
Pragmatic and practical thinker; seeing finance as a tool to implement our projects and not a goal.
Demonstrated experience interacting with government agencies, civil society counterparts, and international donor agencies.
Team player, including good communications and interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal; and written in English and Arabic.
