What we are looking for
As a Core Competency technical advisor for the region, you will need to have in-depth knowledge and expertise of Livelihoods & Food Security in humanitarian response and early economic recovery. Experience in programme strategy, quality assessments, tools and resources development are all required for this position, in addition to knowledge, experience and skills with market-based programming and working with partners. Also, contextual knowledge or previous experience in the Middle East and North Africa is an asset.
Working collaboratively with technical and operational colleagues within a matrix structure is key for this position as well as delivering learning and development as part of quality improvement and capacity sharing and strengthening.
What you will do
The Regional Core Competency (CC) Advisor for Livelihoods and Food Security (LFS) will be responsible for providing specialist advice, technical oversight, capacity sharing and guidance to the Country Offices for ensuring that optimal CC programme strategies, systems, policy, tools and practices are in place, will also contribute to funding bids from the CC perspective and assist the Country Office in ensuring that donor opportunities are identified, and donor obligations and requirements are met.
The Livelihoods and Food Security Advisor is responsible for technical guidance in 3 strategic areas: Food Assistance (primarily in first-line response utilizing markets-based approaches such as cash and voucher); Business, Entrepreneurship and Employment and Food and Agriculture Systems support.
