Department: Honeywell Connected Plant Direct Supervisor: EDM Engineering Manager
Purpose/Summary
The engineer will be responsible for requirements gathering, business & technical proposals, demonstration, coordination with stakeholders, design & architecture, & deployment of complex EDM (Enterprise Data Management) projects. Acting as a technical focal point throughout the duration of the project, the engineer will be the key liaison between customers and the execution & development team, ensuring that the delivered system meets the functional & technical requirements.
The Engineer’s work in conjunction with developers of all skill levels, business analysts, and business owners. The Engineer contributes to technical design and implementation of the HCP products using various technologies (C#, Python, OptiStudio) in an Agile environment. The engineer must be prepared to work on the integration using Honeywell technologies but may also be required to quickly evaluate, learn, & be capable to integrate 3rd party tools from Microsoft or others. The engineer must be familiar with working in an industrial environment (Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining or the Flat sheet Industry).
II Key Areas of Responsibility
Responsibility for sound technical design & delivery of assigned projects/services from project initiation to completion.
Responsible for the development of conceptual, user requirement, functional and detailed technical design specifications and provides technical leadership, support and broad expertise for multiple disciplines.
Participates in FEED studies, Business Process analysis, As-Is vs To-Be work process definition, Conference Room Pilot (CRP) activities, Proof of Concept (POC) for project scoping and solution design.
Designs & shapes large scale application architecture ensuring that the defined architecture meets performance requirements for data processing, analysis, & visualization. Must be capable to interact with the customer’s IT organization to ensure the delivered solution meets necessary cybersecurity & infrastructure requirements. Assesses and mitigates risk and issues through the application lifecycle.
Establishing acceptance of designs with client executives. Translating and conveying impact of process and system changes to bottom line and articulating the benefits & value to the customer.
Issue work packages, test for quality, & track progress of local & or remote project engineering groups, 3rd Parties, Development and R&D groups for successful project delivery. Ensures that the appropriate test scripts, test data, test logs, & defect logs are in place to ensure quality delivery.
Participates and facilitate critical project activities, ensuring buy-in and acceptance from the customer including, but not limited to – Project Kick Off, URS, Infrastructure setup, FDS, DDS, FAT, SAT, Training, Project commissioning, Go Live, & Change Management activities and support to onsite/resident support team.
Proactively recommends potential quality and efficiency improvements within the engineering/ product development group. Regularly identify & communicate risk in the project and prepare mitigation plans.
Shares technical knowledge with project team, supervisor, own discipline and other disciplines.
Communicate with internal team regarding technical issues, escalating these early in the project.
Provide pre-sales support using commercial, technical, & functional knowledge to identify requirements, risks and assumptions, compile estimates, prepare proposals and presentations/demos as appropriate to further the pursuit and submit the bid.
Cultivating client relationships and driving revenue acquisition. Identify and drive revenue opportunities for Honeywell Connected Plant in MES Solutions space.
Job Context
Works independently on assigned work and projects and supervision of project team to review, approve and expedite technical issues, monitor project activities, carry out engineering studies and detailed design work based on company and international standards to meet the mandate of projects. To achieve this, interacts with other company departments and divisions, in a multi-disciplinary role to meet group work objectives and the objectives of the department
IV Communications and Working Relationships
Communicates with project engineers based on work requirements and with the EDM Lead Engineer as required, to expedite project execution.
Interacts both in writing and orally with the staff of all relevant LOB for information transfer.
Interacts with Engineering Managers in DE & GES to coordinate project activities involving requiring external support.
Interacts with product managers & specialists and or suppliers for technical information of new engineering products required for projects.
Communicates with external customers, EPC contractors, sub-contractors or outside agencies to expedite projects through regular project meetings.
VI Framework Boundaries, Decision Making authority and responsibility
Supervised by the EDM Engineering Manager to ensure the performance and delivery of required outputs to meet project schedules and the completion of all assigned tasks in line with company procedures and standards and customer expectations.
Establishes and maintains good working relationships with numerous personnel in management, and engineering all of whom are greatly dependent on the Lead Engineer’s analytical ability and judgement.
Makes all technical decisions to meet the requirement of the project, company standards and international codes and discusses critical decisions with the Engineering Manager.
VII Knowledge Skills and Experience
The Lead Engineer must have a minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in delivery of MES solutions including:
Experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining or the Flat sheet Industry.
Hands on application experience implementing EDM Solutions in industrial environments including but not limited to Historian, Operations Logbook, Alarm Management, Asset Management / Reliability, Enterprise Historians, Reporting & Visualization.
Programming Skills: Biztalk / C# / REST APIs / SQL T-SQL / Python / OptiStudio.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting & and problem-solving skills, quality oriented, logical & thorough. Candidate should be able to learn quickly, think efficiently, and inquire effectively in order to gather and understand user requirements.
Must have knowledge of the software development life cycle.
Experience with Business Analytics Tool (Dundas BI/Power BI/SQL Analytics)
Experience on integration with ERP packages (SAP, Oracle).
Good verbal and written communication skills. Strong team player able to work effectively with customers, multidisciplinary project teams and other departments within the company.
Customer orientation and focused on delivering quality and timely outcomes.
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering
