Job Description
We are looking to appoint self-motivated, energetic, highly skilled, and astute Project Engineers across all disciplines (Civil Electrical I&C Mechanical) with Energy Sector backgrounds including related engineering knowledge and experience for the technical delivery of a diverse program of ongoing and future Energy projects in thermal generation renewable generation transmission and distribution fuels nuclear generation within the Middle East region and specifically the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the technical delivery of Energy Sector projects with a strong emphasis on Thermal Plant projects.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:-
- Support the relevant Project Manager with technical support on Energy Sector Technical Advisory and Owners Engineer projects especially those related to thermal Plants.
- Communicate with project stakeholders at a technical level sufficient to allow design and documentation review and approval.
- Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout the entire project execution period. Evaluate and solve multidiscipline technical problems that may arise.
- Support and develop an exemplary culture of compliance with Mott MacDonalds ethical practices and procedures at all operating levels.
- Resolve problems and challenges, identify trends, and implement system improvements.
- Identify problems and take steps, including engaging, consulting, and seeking advice with counterparties to resolve project concerns.
- Support Bid Manager on the technical input necessary for the preparation of Bid documents leading to successful award of projects in the Energy Sector.
- When working on a specific project which may require short periods of travel including site visits and client meetings, responsibilities will be as defined by the project manager responsible for that assignment.
Candidate Specification
- Degree in either civil, mechanical, electrical, or I&C engineering from an accredited university Professional Engineering Registration or a Chartered Engineer from a recognized international professional institution or a masters degree related to the Energy Sector would be considered beneficial.
- Experience in a similar role in the Energy Sector with an emphasis on Thermal Plants. Must have experience in reviewing and approving of design documents and drawings associated with thermal generation plants.
- Experience of and ability to undertake engineering services on a range of Energy Sector projects including basic and detailed engineering, preparation of technical specifications for tenders, tender evaluation, discussion with tenderers and award of contracts, post-award review engineering of vendor’s design and drawings, detailed design/engineering, etc.
- Experience of and ability to undertake technical review, contractual review for project due diligence roles, periodic construction monitoring and operational monitoring review.
- Experience of and ability to undertake technical advisory in the Energy Sector including for example site selection, layout development, basic system engineering, preparation of feasibility report / detailed project report/ concept report and project developers bid assistance services for the development of the project.
- Detailed working knowledge of Contracts (preferable).
- A strong understanding of the multidisciplinary nature of projects is essential. Able to be a part of and successfully deliver multi-disciplinary projects.
- Flexibility to travel within the Middle East region and overseas would be considered as advantageous to support our international project portfolio.
- A drive to be abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions.
- Excellent written verbal client-facing communication and presenting skills (in the English language) are a requirement.
