SummaryDevelops and Manages the operations of the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) section including assigning, scheduling and reviewing work performed consistent with the department approved policies and procedures.Essential Responsibilities and Duties1. Manages CDI function, plans and controls all services and provides suitable techniques and support to CDI staff.2. Ensures alignment and communication with the relevant manager in the Hospitals other sites in coordination of day-to-day operations.3. Provides input of inpatient clinical records in complex or unclear cases and reviews the work of his sub ordinaries.4. Reports any recurrent gaps, lack of compliance, and findings in the medical records to the head of the department.5. Collaborates with department resources such as Lead Coder, Lead Transcriptionist and CDI Team Leader as well as the medical departments to improve documentation compliance amongst healthcare providers.6. Evaluates performance and productivity on a monthly basis and counsels them on areas of improvement.7. Initiates the development of needed updates of internal policies and procedures and operation manual for the section with the CDI manager in the Hospitals other sites.8. Develops and implements the department policies and procedures to ensures efficient operation of the section with the CDI manager in the Hospitals other sites.9. Conducts surveys in order to analyses information and forward unusual or significant matters to the Head of the department.10. Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates the sections performance by preparing and reviewing monthly reports in relation to the approved objectives of the section that are in line with the Hospitals goals.EducationPhD, Masters or Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Health Information Management or other Healthcare related discipline is required.Experience RequiredFour (4) years of related experience including two (2) years at a senior /supervisory position with PhD, six (6) years with Masters, or eight (8) years with Bachelors Degree is required.Other Requirements(Certificates) Certified Clinical Documentation Improvement or Health Information Management is preferred. Experience as an RHIA, CCC, CHIM and/or verifiable documentation review experience gained in tertiary care setting is preferred. Certified Medical Coder (AR-DRG) is preferred. Experience with medical insurance is preferred.
