The Infection Prevention Practitioner works at a section level of Johns Hopkins Aramco Hospital (JHAH) facilities (inpatient, outpatient, medical designated facilities / miscellaneous) and interfaces with IPC Practitioners to lead related initiatives for surveillance of hospital acquired infections, education, construction, policy development, outbreak management, hand hygiene, environmental service liaison and process improvements
As a member of the Johns Hopkins Saudi Aramco infection prevention and control team, the Infection Prevention Practitioner responsibilities spans across the continuum of care within JHAH healthcare facilities. Delegated by the Infection Control coordinator to be responsible for the infection control activities /operation of a section (inpatient, outpatient, medical designated facilities / miscellaneous) of JHAH, may supervise at least 1 infection control practitioner. Additional duties include performing audits for compliance with hand hygiene, standard precautions, isolation practices, environmental rounds and compiling data and preparing reports related to these audits. In addition individual will assist with communication related to infection control issues via publications, educational boards and in-services. Interactions between Senior ICP and other healthcare workers are in person, by telephone, and by email. Expert computer skills are required in terms of developing documents, preparing educational presentations, and analyzing data. Travel between facilities is often required. Responsibilities will also include instructing personnel in proper infection control procedures investigating infection control problems and arranging follow-up care for patients exposed to infectious diseases developing policies.
Daily with members of the infection prevention and control group, Infection control coordinator, clinical and non-clinical frontline healthcare workers
Ongoing with JHAH supervisors in clinical and non-clinical areas chairman of infection control prevention and control committee.
Occasional public and community contact through communicating policy changes, revisions
Occasional contact with local vendors through JHAH representative, JHAH management
Bachelor degree in nursing or health care/clinical field such as microbiology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum5 years experience in medical microbiology, infection control or epidemiology, or infectious diseases in a hospital setting
