Jacobs is actively partnering with our clients to deliver support this change through strategic advisory, city and regional scale land planning, environmental planning and assessment and digital delivery. As a key member of the Jacobs Environmental Services Market, your role will be to:
•Lead, at the most senior level, a regionally recognized technical discipline with a technical practice, delivering innovative solutions that provide superior value to our clients.
• Assure the quality of technical outputs through the appointment of suitably qualified Technical Leaders within the discipline and their assignment to individual tenders and projects. Develop and maintain the framework of Technical Leaders to suit the evolving needs of the discipline.
• Provide technical leadership in Sales. Collaborate and actively participate in Client engagement and business development opportunities in pursuit of future work for the business.
• Identify, manage and mitigate the technical risk exposure to the business and ensure that adequate controls are identified and applied to technical risks in both Sales and Project Delivery.
• Collaborate with and support the Technical Director cohort to bring the best of Jacobs to bear on every opportunity and project undertaken across the business and establish and promote a highly visible and uncompromising culture of safety, integrity and quality.
• Act as the Environmental Sustainability Champion for the discipline, particularly with respect to integrating consideration from Sales, through to design & delivery.
• Maintain a broad and comprehensive expertise in leading edge theories, techniques and/or technologies and set the standards for exceptional delivery and technical performance within the technical discipline.
• Anticipate and influence internal and/or external business or regulatory issues, that have an impact on the technical discipline.
• Visibly lead the technical discipline through Technical Leader forums, Market Sector Solutions, Communities of Practice (CoP’s), partnerships and facilitate and foster thinking beyond conventional solutions and established industry practices to identify and solve the most complex of problems within the technical discipline.
• Enhance the technical brand of the company and influence key decisions through proactive engagement with Clients, Industry and the broader technical community.
• Facilitate and encourage collaboration across the Technical Director cohort.
• Influence the configuration, growth and development of the Regional technical capability to suit the current and future requirements of the discipline.
• Identification and development of technical talent within the practice area and succession planning and career development for current and future Technical Directors & Leaders.
• Influencing the retention of key talent. Identification and influencing the recruitment of key technical resources external to the business.
• Appointment of appropriate Technical Leaders to the Technical leadership framework and monitoring their technical performance on bids and projects.
• Determining, in conjunction with Sales/Ops, the critical technical resources required for key pursuits & projects and collaborate with the Sales team to help understand the client’s key technical drivers, including culturally sensitive dynamics, and then address in key pursuits.
• Establish and manage client technical relationships at a senior level, build appropriate level contacts with key clients in concert with Sales.
• Engage and excite clients through the development and promotion of thought leadership activities relevant to key client needs.
• Lead/Influence the development of innovative, differentiating technical strategies for key client issues drawing on regional and global best practise where appropriate.
• Lead the development and deployment of new and novel technologies, creating relevant products and services that add value for our clients.
• Proactively seek and respond to feedback from clients regarding technical performance and quality of technical deliverables.
• Collaborating with sales for go/no go decisions, focusing on environmental impact, technical strategy, delivery strategy and resource availability.
• Technical leadership and reviews of major bids including task, program, resource, fee and environmental sustainability risk components.
• Technical leadership and reviews of major projects. Supporting PM’s & DPE’s in managing project delivery obligations including technical and operational risk
mitigation.
• Driving consistency through the relevant technical cohort, including applying best technical practice and lessons learned.
• Balancing resource allocation in collaboration with sales and Directors of Operations, facilitating workshare throughout APAC and globally business cases and advocacy for investment in technical capability, technology, tools and systems to suit current and future needs of the technical discipline.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
• Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field of study, chartership and Full Membership of a recognized professional institution / organization preferably at a Fellowship level.
• Significant consulting experience (>15years) required including business systems, policies and procedures, regional experience and cultural awareness
• Strong communication skills to articulate a clear technical direction with good social, networking and presentation skills.
• Significant discipline/ industry presence, recognized and valued by Jacob’s clients at the national or international level.
• Recognized internally as an expert authority able to work with our teams to solve technical problems achieving high level of assurance on project deliverables.
• Enhanced technical reputation with key Clients regionally and globally through thought leadership and innovative solutions.
• Business growth through technical leadership in Sales.
• Availability and configuration of technical talent to deliver current and future business needs, including workshare.
