Overview:
An excellent opportunity has become available to join Elliott Group in Bahrain for an EHS Officer. The successful candidate will support compliance with applicable laws and regulations and conformance to internal EHS processes. Provide technical EHS expertise for Field Project Managers, Field Service Engineers, Field Service Representative, and Machinery Specialists across EMA region.
The candidate will also support EHS compliance within the company and customer sites including project planning and any relevant management systems across multiple locations.
Responsibilities:
- Administers and supports EHS programs as assigned, including responsibility for all related requirements.
- Responsible for supporting internal and external customers in area of EHS.
- Responsible for regular evaluations, developing training programs, and communicating to affected users in the area of EHS.
- Communicates with other relevant functions to ensure EHS programs are aligned properly.
- Supports execution of the EHS strategic plan within area of responsibility and supports the Regional EHS Manager and business unit leadership with EHS matters.
- Performs assessments and produces reports summarizing strengths and opportunities for improvement.
- Identifies continuous improvement opportunities within the area of specialty.
- Support the incident investigation process to ensure root cause(s) are identified and mitigated, identify incident and near miss trends, identify best practices, share learning ,and implement opportunities for incident prevention.
- Support developing and implementation of Elliott specific EHS programs and processes to drive improvements.
- Support third party certification, customer audits, and customer qualifications.
- Act as the EHS Lead during outages, providing technical guidance for contracted EHS professionals.
- Conduct and co-ordinate regular safety training for staff.
- Monitor, assess and report on Contractor and Sub Contractors HSE compliance with the project HSE requirements as per the Contract and HSE legislation / best practice.
- Immediately bring to the attention of the PM the critical and outstanding safety issues for their further actions.
- Carry out daily site HSE tours with Contractor HSE staff and highlight findings.
- Develop and update Elliott HSE documents (the Safety File), e.g. HSE Plan, HSE specific site risk assessment, office risk assessment, office fire risk assessment, etc. and conducts location specific drills as and when required.
- Monitor the Contractor’s compliance with Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) legislation and Elliott & Customer HSE Plan and report and follow up any breaches.
- Prepare regular site EHS reports.
- Monitor EHS trainings status for the employees and keep the trainings up to date.
- Monitor Medical status for employees and raise any red flags and issues of concern.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and/or Health and Safety Science or related field (or equivalent relevant experience) plus a minimum of 5-7 years of applicable experience in an industrial or petrochemical environment.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and written skills is required, as this position must interact with all levels within Elliott, Elliott subcontractors’, and Elliott customers’ organizations.
- Working knowledge of EHS regulatory framework (particularly for EMA region) and EHS management systems.
- Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, databases, and internet based systems) required.
- Experience with EHS management systems (ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS 18001), desired.
- General familiarity with International, Aramco, and local EHS regulations and reporting requirements. Experience conducting onsite inspections and identifying CAPA. Experience delivering basic PPE and safety related trainings.
Base Location
Bahrain/Remote in Bahrain
Candidates must have the right to unrestricted travel and work in the EU without the need of seeking sponsorship/work visa from the company.
Travel will be a regular and frequent occurrence for the role holder due to the geographical region of the role. Travel may require extended periods when supporting projects. The majority of the travel will be within Europe, Middle East and Africa, but may at times also include travel outside of this region.
