Brief about the project:
The current situation in Jordan is characterized by a continued decline of the available water resources. Climate change and population growth have an additional impact on the country’s severe water scarcity. The majority of Jordanians are supplied only periodically through the public network with drinking water. Technical and administrative water losses are around 50%. On behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Jordanian water sector institutions is implementing the Programme “Water Sector Governance” from 1/2023 – 12/2026. The programme objective aims at enhancing the implementation of the principles of good governance in the Jordanian water sector. Among others, the programme includes activities to digitalise and protect the data and IT systems of water sector institutions from external threats. Previous digitisation approaches of these institutions will be structured and expanded into a digitisation strategy with clear measures for enhancement. The programme will support the implementation of selected measures from this strategy. Also, the programme will support the establishment of the necessary IT security standards according to the ISO 27001 series. The implementation of this programme will be closely coordinated with other key actors in the water sector.
Emanating from GIZ’s role in enhancing and promoting the efficiency and competency of its political partners and entities and their respective employees, and in view of GIZ’s aim at maintaining and encouraging the stability of employment at its political partners and entities, this position will not be available to any official employee currently working at any of GIZ’s political partners, governmental ministry, department or entity, including any official employees who are on unpaid leave.
