Job Description
Urgent requirement for a Tax Audit Lead (VAT/Excise) to be based in Dubai on a 1-year contract for a major Financial Institution.
As the Tax Audit Lead (VAT/Excise), you will be responsible for enforcing tax compliance by conducting inspections, audits, and addressing complex tax assessments.
Your responsibilities will include:
Audit Planning: Develop comprehensive audit plans for both desk-based and field-based inspections, taking into account compliance risks and regulatory requirements.
Inspection and Audit: Lead inspections and audits of taxable entities, ensuring a thorough examination of financial records, transactions, and compliance with VAT and Excise tax laws.
Audit Reporting: Prepare detailed audit reports, highlighting findings, discrepancies, and recommendations for corrective actions, and ensure timely delivery to relevant stakeholders.
Outcome Management: Manage the outcomes of audits, including compliance enforcement, penalties, and follow-up activities, to ensure adherence to tax regulations.
Complex Assessments: Provide valuable input on complex tax assessments, working collaboratively with teams to ensure accurate calculations and assessments.
Clarifications and Disputes: Address taxpayer inquiries, provide clarifications on tax matters, and assist in resolving disputes through effective communication and negotiation.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of audit procedures, findings, and reports, ensuring transparency and accuracy in all audit activities.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 6 years of experience in tax auditing, VAT, Excise, or a related area.
Strong knowledge of VAT and Excise tax laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive tax information.
A minimum of 6 years of experience in tax auditing, VAT, Excise, or a related area.
Strong knowledge of VAT and Excise tax laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
