Job Description: Vice Principal
Generic details:
The Vice Principal is the most senior member of staff under the Principal. The post holder supports the
Principal in both the daily tasks of the operational management of the school, as well as in the strategic tasks
of reviewing and developmental planning, so that the school is constantly improving in the quality and range
of its educational provision.
The line manager of the Vice Principal is the Principal.
The role involves:
Deputising for the Principal: when this occurs the post holder works to the relevant
elements of the Principal’s Job Description.
Student Interactions: role modelling excellence of teaching and developing students, so
that your students make at least upper quintile progress, as compared to the rest of the
school.
Leadership and Management: successfully and professionally leading and managing the
staff and resources allocated to the role, so that the school can meet its Performance
Targets.
Planning: using data forensically to evaluate, plan and successfully implement resources,
strategies, and interventions, which achieve the Objectives of the School Development
Plan.
Professional Development: guiding and supporting all line managed staff, to grow in their
professional knowledge and skills so that they can succeed in Appraisal Processes.
Communicating successfully, with parents, colleagues, stakeholders and professional
bodies, to ensure school effectiveness and positive perceptions in Surveys/feedback.
Senior Leader Team: contributing effectively and appropriately to the Senior Leadership
Team, so that it is effective in successfully leading and managing the School.
Quality Assurance: regularly reviewing and reporting upon delegated quality measures,
and contributing planning to Whole School Development Planning
Any other appropriate and reasonable responsibilities or tasks, in keeping with the level of
the post and the requirements of the organisation.
