Title: Analyst, Research Ethics Location: Qatar Org Unit: Research Division Work Days: Sunday-Thursday
Position Summary Under the guidance and supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), supports activities related to ethical research practices which includes collecting data related to the subject, reviewing, and drawing inferences to support changes to research-based documents and educating the staff on research ethics through training. Job Responsibilities Gathers and interprets data related to human subject research and research ethics in general. Reviews IRB databases to identify, select, extract and summaries data related to ethical issues. Liaises with other institution’s and HRPP offices (locally and internationally) to initiate collaborations, data collection and analysis. Reviews and identifies unclear or undefined research ethics policies, procedures, or guidelines to recommend changes. Analyzes various regulations governing human subject research in the region and complex ethics matters; and compare them with other regions. Collects and analyzes the generated data from surveys, draft presentations, and highlights concerns. Builds and organizes data as requested by the principal investigator, using common statistical programs for the data analysis. Develops and implements an education and training program for ethics in research. Supports with presentations, manuscripts, writing proposals for grants applications. Supports in the production of surveys and experiments for the research community, review committees and HRPP offices. Assists in identifying funding opportunities, drafting funding proposals and reports. Drafts and tracks budget projections versus account expenditures. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Bachelor’s Degree Experience Bachelor’s Degree in biological science with 5 – 6 years of experience in research compliance and ethics. Master’s Degree in relevant discipline is preferred. Prior experience in research, medical or educational field is highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated experience in using common statistical packages such as SPSS, Stata, SAS, S-PLUS, or R. Attention to accuracy and detail with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate proficiently with respect to scientific reports and professional presentations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Fluent in spoken and written English. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced result-drive environment. Ability to work proactively and independently, as well as a team member. Proficiency in MS Suite of products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc. Licenses and Certifications Working Conditions/Physical Demands
