CARE International in Jordan has a vacancy for the post of Psychosocial Counselor (Maternity Coverage):
Job Summary:
he purpose of the Psychosocial Counselor position is to effectively implement the assigned project component activities. He/she oversees the proper implementation of the assigned component of the program, in collaboration with other team members of the project. He/she is also responsible for assisting the project manager in project designing, planning, budget preparation, reporting and so on. He/she also establish and maintains good relations with partners such, beneficiary communities, community leaders, Community and other Organizations and ensure their mobilization to participate in CARE projects.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY 1: Planning, monitoring and reporting
a. Develops, the costed annual work plan for the project component for which he or she is responsible with support from the project manager.
b. Reviews and revises this plan each month with the project manager.
c. Monitors the implementation of the plan in line with donor and CARE requirements including proposing any necessary changes.
d. Reports to the project manager on progress including contributing to donor reports.
e. Ensures compliance with all donor requirements and regulations.
f. Together with the Project Manager, properly documents the achievements and lessons of the project activities and disseminates to partners. This includes registering assistance on beneficiary databases if applicable.
g. Works as a team player providing relevant information assistance to colleagues and ensuring project components for which she or he is responsible are interlinked.
h. Maintains all relevant project documents in electronic and paper files (reports, contracts, agreements, correspondence, meeting notes, training materials and so on).
JOB RESPONSIBILITY 2: Implementation of project activities
a. Plans with project partners, beneficiaries and other relevant actors, the detailed project activities for which she or he is responsible.
b.Creating awareness of the project among beneficiaries and partners and facilitates participation in all stages of the project cycle from problem identifying through implementation and management.
c. Develops the necessary project documentation to implement project activities including developing terms of reference for outside experts and assignments (trainers, facilitators, evaluators, experts).
d. Organizes as necessary project activities, events,awareness sessions, peer support groups, individual sessions, workshops, training sessions, information materials, presentations and so on. This includes logistical arrangements, organizing payments and report writing.
e. Document all activities in a timely manner for narrative reports, statistical reports, name lists and photos.
f. Implements all aspects of sub grant management in line with CARE procedures if the project requires. This includes; selection of grantees and writing up the necessary reports recording the selection process; facilitating a sub grant agreement with the procurement department of CARE; monitoring and reporting on the performance of the sub grant.
g. Identifies skills gaps and provides training to project partners as required (e.g. project management, reporting, community mobilization and participation, gender mainstreaming, and so on).
JOB RESPONSIBILITY 3: Ensuring community participation, promoting women’s empowerment, applying CARE standards
a. Makes sure that project activities are performed in line with CARE standards including key humanitarian standards as set out in the SPHERE and IASC guidelines.
b. Ensures that gender considerations are taken into account at all stages of the project cycle from design through implementation to evaluation.
c. Ensures the participation of the community and partners in all stages of the project cycle.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY 4: Coordination, liaison and outreach with project partners and other interested organization
a. Maintains contacts and effective communication with key partners involved in the project (project partners, other NGOs and agencies, Government departments) including drafting correspondence and documentation for signature by the project manager and transmission to partners or donors.
b. Ensures that summaries of meetings, seminars or workshops attended is written, well documented and shared with others.
c. Report on all meetings and develop ways to involve lessons leant or disseminate information to CBO partners.
d. Participates and if necessary, organizes coordination between different donors, agencies and organizations to enhance the impact of CARE’s work through good coordination.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY 5: Emergency Response / Staff Security
a. Take a lead role in facilitating timely, quality administrative support function delivery in the time of emergency response.
b. Guides and supports management on staff security concerns.
c. Ensure security operational guidelines well established for the CO and field offices following CARE USA Security Guidelines, and all staff are aware (in coordination with the CD).
d. Promote a safe and secure work environment; foster a safety and security culture; and ensure consistent application of, and compliance with, CARE Jordan safety and security policies and procedures.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY 6: Selection, training and follow-up of the work of volunteers/ PSS- assistant
a. Selecting volunteers according to the CARE criteria
b.Training and qualifying volunteers for activities
c. Monitor the work of volunteers
Qualifications (Know How):
Education/Training:
Required:
MA degree in Sociology, social work ,social anthropology Psychology, Public Health or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Desired:
BA/BSc Degree in Community Development, social work ,social anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Experience/Technical Skills:
Minimum 3 years in project development and coordination related experience preferably from UN/INGOs sector
Actual grassroots experience, working with communities and CSOs.
Desired:
