BACKGROUND
Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Office for the Gulf States and Yemen and direct supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will contribute to the implementation of the project “Youth Employment through Heritage and Culture in Yemen” (hereafter referred to as “the project”).
The overall aim of the Project is to contribute to improving livelihood opportunities for women and youth in Yemen through job creation in heritage rehabilitation and cultural industries. Specific objectives are to support at least 6,000 youth in the rehabilitation sector and 2,000 in sustainable cultural entrepreneurship and contribute to social cohesion, peacebuilding, and promotion of cultural heritage in Yemen. Employment opportunities will be generated through the rehabilitation of historic urban centers in different governorates, and support to small and medium enterprises and CSOs active in various sectors of the cultural and creative industries. By creating jobs in the preservation of cultural heritage and creative industries, the intervention will reach young people and contribute to peacebuilding because young people are social actors that have the potential and capacities to engage and lead actions that will promote peace and sustainable development in their communities. The promotion of arts and culture throughout the project will play an important role in restoring cultural identity, peacebuilding, and recovery, as well as rebuilding trust in local communities.
The incumbent shall contribute to the implementation of activities/projects by providing administrative and support services to the project team.
The incumbent will be based in Doha.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Office for the Gulf States and Yemen and direct supervision of the Project Manager, and in cooperation with the overall team of the project in Doha and in Yemen the incumbent will provide a series of administrative support services in compliance with UNESCO Rules and Regulations, practices, standards and procedures. Essential responsibilities include:

UNESCO Salaries in Doha are paid in Qatari Riyals; the annual remuneration for the post is QAR 192,175.00 . UNESCO Service Contract benefits include 30 days of annual leave as well as a contribution to the pension scheme and health insurance upon proof of inscription.
