Working in the Finance Department under the direction of the Senior Country Finance Manager, the Accounting Manager will ensure the accuracy and completeness of Mercy Corps accounting records and will have primary responsibility for managing the monthly accounting cycle. More specifically, s/he will provide training, coaching, and regular feedback to finance staff on managing the monthly accounting cycle. In order to ensure a high level of efficiency as well as accuracy and completeness of accounting records, the Accounting Manager will examine the Finance Department staffing structure and be supported to make any necessary adjustments to ensure functional roles and clearly designated responsibilities. S/he will ensure standard routine accounting practices are in place and perform the timely delivery of payments, banking, payroll, budgeting, tax, and HQ accounting reports for Mercy Corps Jordan.
The Mercy Corps Finance Department ensures compliance with donor regulations as well as Mercy Corps’ internal policies and procedures. In its role as a support to the Program Department, the Finance Department provides timely reports and assistance to the Country Director and the Program team to ensure that financial resources are used efficiently and effectively.

Works Directly With: Finance Manager, HQ Regional Finance Officer (with authority for technical financial matters); members of Operations and HR, Subgrants Compliance and Capacity Building team, Program and Project Managers, TSU team members, and others.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities is necessary. A high professional standard of finance and procurement ethics as well as the willingness and ability to enforce compliance with Mercy Corps and donor policies and procedures is essential. Training will be a key output/success factors of this role to ensure that the Jordan finance team are structured and properly trained to perform their functions with minimal oversight. S/he will have an impeccable professional standard of finance and procurement ethics and have the ability to analyze financial operational data and clearly present conclusions and recommendations. The most successful Mercy Corps staff members have a strong commitment to teamwork and accountability, thrive in evolving and changing environments and make effective written and verbal communication a priority in all situations.
Mercy Corps Team members represent the agency both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting. Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and Mercy Corps policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all locations.
The position is based in Amman, Jordan.
