PURPOSE
The Armed Forces and Security (FAS) Programme Adviser maintain the general dialogue with Jordanian Armed Forces bodies and others relevant authorities to ensure the compliance with the International Humanitarian Law and the essential elements of international human rights law. S/he has a leading or supporting role in implementation of prevention activities related to the Amman Delegation’s Operational Priorities for the protection of affected people by other situation of violence or armed conflict under acceptable security conditions.
RELATIONSHIPS
• Internally, interacts with the Head of Delegation, Head of Operations, Protection, Communication and Prevention teams, and delegates in the field.
• Externally, interacts with security forces and other relevant actors at political and strategic levels, e.g., defence policy, legal advisers, commanders at different levels, Training and Operation Directorate (critical), and subordinate operational units.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED
Must have military background, in addition to the following:
• 3–5 years’ experience in either planning military operations, legal (IHL/IHRL), peacekeeping/ multinational operations, or civil-military cooperation.
• Good knowledge of Jordan.
• Experience in military operations will be considered as a strong asset.
• War College graduate will be considered as a strong asset.
• Legal studies will be considered as a strong asset.
• University degree or professional diploma.
• Fluent in both Arabic and English languages.
• Computer proficiency.
