Job Purpose

As a Systems Officer, you will identify, specify and implement, through a process of requirements gathering, analysis and solution definition, business automation solutions using express and courier related systems across the network and accredited external stakeholders to increase the use and visibility of information, productivity, efficiency and revenue gains.
You will support the identification of global express business system requirements aligned with those of regulatory authorities and industry standards in areas of Internet/web technology, Capacity Management, Pricing and other initiatives and develop business IT systems in line with compliance standards. You will follow company approved standards of documenting business requirements and support the testing of developed IT solutions and system implementation.
In this role, you will:
1. Follow the approved standard processes of gathering business requirements, analysing and proposing express business IT solutions, ensuring all necessary and appropriate documentation pertaining to these requirements is prepared.
2. Liaise with Standards and Procedures/Compliance department and section heads to ensure solutions designed are aligned to regulatory and industry standards. All agreed solutions needs to be documented in detail and signed off by all business stakeholders.
3. Constantly monitor the development progress of business IT solutions through demo sessions and ensure the development is aligned with the agreed scope of work.
4. Compile and document user acceptance test cases based on the agreed scope of any given new functionality, change request, enhancement or bug fix, to ensure that business IT solution developed is as per agreed specification and of high quality. Test & document cases need to be exhaustive and scope of the test cases need to cover all impacted areas associated with the development.
5. Facilitate the collation and compilation of the release notes in liaisons with enhancement development owners and IT analyst, ensuring the information is communicated to all users of the related systems. Support the implementation of business solutions by providing all necessary documentation to the business stakeholders to achieve maximum returns and benefit of the solutions developed.
6. Analyse issues and concerns raised by business departments pertaining to system faults, document the analysis and desired solutions for these faults in the fault management system (JIRA). Prioritise the fixes of these faults and monitor development of all such fixes constantly engaging with the IT analysis and developers to ensure desired outcomes.
7. Support the audit of network wide usage of automated systems and identify staff, stations that are not using automated systems to its potential and agree development programs and monitor progress.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
– Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) preferably in Computer Science
– 5+ years of working experience in areas such as Air Cargo, logistics and supply chains, operations, warehousing, freight forwarding etc.
– Comprehensive knowledge of the cargo industry preferably in areas of Pricing, Reservations, Internet/web technology or Capacity Management. Knowledge of Cargo IMP and XML messages, protocols preferable.
– Good analytical ability and inter-personal skills to understand business system requirements and document the same in company approved standards.
– Should be able to communicate end users business requirements in structured functional I.T. terms and specifications to development and technical Engineers
