Purpose and Scope
The Associate Engineer Structures role at Duncan & Ross is a mid-level position that involves supporting the design, analysis, and implementation of structural engineering projects. This role requires a solid understanding of structural principles and practices, with a focus on ensuring that projects meet safety, functionality, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed structural designs for various types of structures, including bridges, tunnels, underpasses, retaining walls, car parks, and public infrastructure-related buildings.
- Produce design drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications, as required.
- Supervise CAD teams as per project tasks assigned, ensuring timely and accurate completion of design work.
- Track progress and report to Senior/Principal Engineers on the status of assigned designs, highlighting any issues that may arise during development.
- Support other engineering activities as required by Senior/Principal Engineers, contributing to the overall success of projects.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position, as may be appropriate.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering, with no related work experience required. Ability to apply basic engineering principles, techniques, and analysis within the structure discipline.
- Masters Degree in Structural Engineering is highly preferred.
- Candidate will be requested to proceed with MME registration once joining the company.
- Familiarity with core engineering software packages, including Midas Civil, CSi Bridge, SAP2000, Structural Bridge Design (Auto Desk), AutoCAD, Bentley RAM connections/elements, and Prokon.
- Basic knowledge of design codes, including Ashghal IAN009, British Standards, Eurocode, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
- Familiarity with Revit software.
- Business-level English language skills, sufficient to produce well-written reports with organized structure and minimal need for grammatical corrections, and to hold articulate verbal communications.
- Native-level English speaking and writing skills.
